Post subject:  Sourcing a Gibson decal?
Gibson puts a decal in the exact spot where the neck/headstock “evil smile” breaks tend to occur in Les Pauls. This seems by design, though not sure of the reason. Image

Has anyone successfully gotten a replacement from Gibson to install after headstock repair? It seems like this would be very common considering the frequency of this particular repair. I’ve found fakes on eBay, but they lack the black border of the original.

The tricky part isn't the artwork, or even printing with a black outline. The real trick is printing metallic gold.

I've got an ALPS 5000 printer which is capable of printing these logos with either foil or metallic ink onto water-slide decal paper.

Here's a couple of examples I've done.

Martin logo done in gold foil.
